Nesin Villages have emerged as spaces dedicated to intellectual exploration and creativity. This evolution led to the renaming of the community as Nesin Villages. Founded under the leadership of Ali Nesin, this collective of villages operates as a non-profit entity, fostering academic pursuits and enabling individuals to think, learn, and create freely.
History and Purpose
Nesin Mathematics Village was born out of Ali Nesin’s desire for closer interaction with his university students. While initially centered around mathematics, the village gradually diversified its activities to include philosophy and art. As a non-profit institution, the village aims to support environments conducive to free thinking and creation.
Activities and Human Resources
Nesin Villages host various activities, including mathematics summer camps for high school and undergraduate/graduate students, as well as workshops, conferences, corporate meetings, and winter camps. While a core team provides year-round support, volunteer participants also play a significant role in the village’s operations. Collaborative efforts among students, teachers, and volunteers drive the village’s activities.
Philosophy and Operation
Operating under a communal philosophy, Nesin Villages emphasize collective work. Instructors volunteer to teach during camps, while participants contribute to the village’s daily tasks. The village sustains itself through activity revenues, with donations directed to the Nesin Foundation.
